Planetarium
SFCC Astrology Department
Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Illustrator
Create a site that shows the development of the planetarium and makes it easy for people to donate as well as convincing them to do so. Use a space theme.
In order to make it feel space themed, I used images from the Hubble site and drew a little scene with an observatory. I included a progress bar and a donate link on every page to make it obvious to the user.
The Closet Shelf
Student Project
Photoshop, Dreamweaver, MySQL
Create a site that displays book information and makes it easy to purchase them.
I used MySQL to create a database of books and most pages use PHP to call that information, be it search, bestsellers, or categories. While searching and browsing there is a "buy it" link as well as on the book's info page.
SFCC Grad Show
SFCC Graphic Design Club
Photoshop, Flash, Strata 3D, Dreamweaver
Develop a concept for the Grad Show and create a website based on it that will keep the attention of the viewer as well as provide links to the student portfolios.
I came up with a lego concept to show that graphic design is fun yet constructive, just like playing with legos. I conveyed this in the site by making legos in strata and keeping the overall site bright and fun. Each lego is a link to a portfolio.
Sanna Thai Cuisine
Student Project
Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Illustrator
Create a site that has a look and feel that says "Authentic Thai" and display the menu items in an orderly fasion.
I used Thai culture themed images in the design to give it that feel, as well as using bamboo for the boarder and mountains for the nav. I think the overall calmness of the site will make a user happy and they will want to go to the restaurant.
InfiniTEA Ezine
Student Project
Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Illustrator
Create an ezine website that displays posts easily and makes it easy for the client to update themselves, while creating a tea themed design.
In order to make it easily editable and displayed, I made the site into a wordpress theme. To keep it tea themed I used images of tea and mugs as well as green and brown "tea-ish" colors.
Blog System
My personal site
HTML, CSS, PHP, MySQL
Develop a blog system.
Before I started using wordpress I decided to challenge myself and write my own blog system. It uses PHP to pull data from a MySQL database and includes a comment and archive system as well.
Pierpong WP Theme
Pierpoint Media
HTML, CSS, PHP, Wordpress
Turn a provided mockup into a wordpress theme.
This was my first time creating a wordpress theme and I actually modified a pre-existing one to create it, which is linked to at the bottom of the theme.
Book Catalog
Student Project
HTML, CSS, PHP, MySQL
Create a book catalog for a book store site.
For this site I made a MySQL database with book information and called it in various situations, such as displaying search results, categories and best sellers. I also wrote a little search thing that finds the keyword in any of the books information.
InfiniTEA Wordpress Theme
Student Project
HTML, CSS, PHP, Wordpress
Create a wordpress theme from scratch for an Ezine website.
To create this site I learned how to make a wordpress theme from complete scratch. I think wordpress is perfect for an Ezine since they mostly consist of posting stories.
I know I haven’t posted anything since last Friday, but once school isn’t consuming my life I’m going to try and write some more posts with tutorials and such. I might do one about how to make an SMS bomber, even though it’s a little shady. Anyway, this week I actually only have two links. I’ll try and have more next week. I’ve been working on a resume design, so they are both resume related. Here you go!
The Graphic Design Resume Guide - This one is, I think, really helpful when you have no idea what to do for a resume design. It gives a lot of good tips and I would recommend it to anybody trying to make a “designer” resume.
30 Artistic and Creative Resumes - I actually just found this and haven’t gotten though them all but I can already tell it’s a great, inspiring list. I’m going to run though them all and try to come up with some new concepts for my resume. So if you’re stuck trying to make a design, check it out!
Sorry it was such a short list (can two items be considered a list even?). I’ll try for a better one next week. And maybe a tutorial post soon.
Got any questions or just want to say hello?
